Agra Fort
Agra Fort is located alongside the River Yamuna in the city of Agra. The fort was constructed during 1565-1571 by the Mughals. Emperor Akbar laid the foundation of this magnificent fort in the year 1565.
The entire fort is surrounded by a wall made of red sandstone and is stretched out over 2.5 km northwest of the Taj Mahal. There are two entrances in the fort, the Amar Singh Gate and Delhi Gate. The Delhi gate leads to an inner gate named Hathi Pol or the Elephant gate. Some of the major architectural structured present within the fort are Jehangiri Mahal, Khas Mahal, Musamman Burj, Diwani-i-Khas, Macchhi Bhawan and Diwan-i-Am.
