| The origin of bear is from the Northern Hemisphere. They can be easily recognised by their heavy body, lumbering gait, thick coat of hairs and protruding lips. They have a very good sense of smell but have a poor sight and hearing. Three species can be found in India: The Himalayan Black Bear, The Brown Bear and The Sloth Bear. |

| The Himalayan Black bear are the most cunning animal. It can be found in the forest of the Himalayan ranges. The Brown bear can also be found in Himalayas, usually near the snow line and are heavier than the black bear. Whereas, the Sloth bear can be found all over the Indian peninsula. |
