Bhimbetka Caves
Bhimbetka caves houses a massive collection of prehistoric art in India. It is a World Heritage Site located in the Raisen district, 46 km south of Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh. Dr. V S Wakankar, one of the greatest archaeologists of India discovered and explored it in the year 1958.
The caves and shelters of Bhimbetka exhibit Stone Age rock paintings that are more than 12,000 years old. The paintings found in the caves are painted in red and white colours. Most of the painting depicts hunting, dancing, animal fighting, horse and elephant riders, decoration of bodies, and household scenes.
