Elephanta Caves
Situated in the Mumbai harbour, off the coast of Mumbai is the Elephanta Caves. It is located 10 km away from the Gateway of India. There are several rock-cut temples craved out of rock. The whole temple is like a huge sculpture with chambers and corridors through which one can walk.
The entire cave area is spread over 60000 square feet, and consist of two lateral courtyards, one main chamber and several shrines. There is a mass of natural rock above the temple. At the main entrance of the cave you can find the famous Trimurti, the celebrated trinity of Elephnata: Lord Brahama, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva.
