Gir National Park
Gir National Park & Wildlife Sanctuary comprises of deciduous forest interspersed with evergreen flora, acacia, grasslands, scrub jungle and rocky hills. It is an exclusive dwelling of the pure Asiatic lions. Established in 1965, the park is located 65 km south-east of Junagadh city of the Indian state of Gujarat.
There are large water bodies such as Kamleshwar Dam that is fed by seasonal rivers and streams, is home for crocodiles and birds. A wide variety of birds such as Bonelli's Eagle, Paradise Flycatcher and Painted Sand grouse can be sited in this park. Nilgai, Black Bucks, the four horned Antelope, Wild Boar, Pale Hedgehog and Mongoose are some of the animals found within the park.
