Khajuraho Temples
Khajuraho Temples were built during the reign of Chandel Empire. The Khajuraho Temples were built in a span of 100 years, i.e. from 950 to 1050 A.D. These temples represent the architectural brilliance that was there in the medieval times. These temples have been named as Khajuraho because of the availability of the khajur trees, i.e. date palm trees in large quantity in the area.
There used to be 85 temples in Khajuraho but with due time only 22 are left, rest have all withered away.
