Martial Arts in India |
| The Indian forms of martial arts are renowned in the world besides its Chinese counterparts. One amongst the Indian forms of martial arts is Kalarippayattu or Kalari that is also one of the oldest martial art forms in the world. It has been conserved in the texts such as the Mallapurana that offer a descriptive tail of this martial art. Kalari as well as the other later on formed martial arts are assumed by some scholars to have traveled to China on the similar lines to Buddhism. The development of Kung-fu is considered by many as the advanced version of the martial arts forms that traveled from India to China. Gatka, Pehlwani, as well as Malla-yuddha are other forms of martial arts prevalent in India that developed much later. |
