Viswanathan Anand is the present World Chess Champion and the Indian chess grandmaster. He was born on December 11, 1969. He is among the top three ranked player since 1997. He started learning chess at the age of 6. He became the youngest National Champion at the age of 16. Later, he became the first Asian to win the World Junior Championship in 1987 and also earned the Grandmaster title.

Anand has been awarded with several prestigious wards that include the Arjuna Award, the Padma Shri, the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award and many more. In 2007, he was conferred with Padma Vibhushan. |
